PCI Nitrogen
Our business solutions reduce their cost by almost $80,000 a year. We replaced an end-of-life legacy system used for controlled document retention, document change notifications, assigning and tracking training, and coordinating management of change.

Overview
PCI Nitrogen, a chemical manufacturing company, was struggling with an outdated legacy system for document management and compliance tasks. The system was no longer supported, inefficient, and caused significant user frustration, leading to compliance issues.
Our team implemented a custom solution using Microsoft Power Platform, integrating SharePoint, Power Apps, and Power Automate. This solution addressed the previous system’s inefficiencies and also saved PCI Nitrogen $80,000 annually by replacing their costly legacy software with tools already included in their existing Microsoft licenses. The project also led to further Power Platform adoption across other departments, streamlining operations beyond the original scope.
An $80,000 a year software spend was replaced with Microsoft Power Platform
The Problem
PCI Nitrogen’s legacy system, used for controlled document retention, document change notifications, assigning and tracking training, and managing change processes, was no longer supported by its original developer. The system was cumbersome and time-consuming, resulting in only a small group of users performing their required tasks. This led to multiple audit findings, as many employees chose not to use the system due to its poor user experience, which directly impacted compliance and operations.
Services Implemented
Our team replaced PCI Nitrogen’s end-of-life legacy system with a comprehensive solution using Microsoft Power Platform, leveraging their existing Microsoft licenses. The new system, built using Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, and SharePoint, was designed to streamline document retention, change notifications, and training assignments while coordinating management of change processes.
Additionally, we structured and implemented a SharePoint Intranet site to house these tools, and we engaged stakeholders to spearhead a broader SharePoint adoption project across the organization.
Results
The Power Platform solution significantly improved user engagement and compliance. PCI Nitrogen replaced an $80,000/year software system with Microsoft tools already included in their existing licenses, requiring only a small additional investment in a $10/month Power BI subscription.
With an upfront investment of just over $10,000, PCI Nitrogen eliminated the recurring $80,000 annual cost, and the new system now requires less than $2,500 annually for additional Microsoft licensing. This solution not only provided cost savings but also delivered a much more user-friendly experience, resulting in higher adoption rates and greater efficiency across departments.
